Cravings...

So everyone has been asking about any special cravings I've had lately and it makes me laugh. It seems that I've craved almost everything I could at one point or another. When I was pregnant with Brayden I really craved Jack-in-the-Box tacos - weird right? With this baby it changes about every 5 minutes but I can't always satisfy them due to the overwhelming and constant nausea.

Funny story - for about the first 2 weeks after finding out the fantabulous news all I wanted to eat were Hebrew National hot dogs (specifically) and cheddar & sour cream potato chips. I never actually got to eat either of these things though. Toward the end of this craving the nausea was becoming unbearable so I called my doctor and asked for a prescription of Zofran - I specifically asked for Zofran because it has fewer side effects and is totally safe. When they called back they wanted me to first try eating potato chips and drinking lemonade. WHAT?!?! I explained that I hadn't been able to eat anything for about 2 days because I was so sick and they wanted me to eat this? The thought only added to the nausea. Well, I never did try this but I had to laugh at the suggestion. I finally did get the Zofran after 2 additional phone calls and an entire weekend. Luckily it helps a little but they also gave me Phenargan, which helps but knocks me out. Oh well. I'm happy to be nauseaous - it means that I really am pregnant still. YIPPEEEE!!

If anyone has any nausea helps I will happily take them - as long as they don't involve potato chips and lemonade.

Ginger. Now I can't handle eating straight ginger so I ate Ginger Snaps. They really seemed to help but the more pure you can get it the better ;)

I don't have any secrets...I don't really get sick. Brittany, on the other hand, was so sick she was in the hospital and was finally given a PICC line to help her keep the nutrients in her body. My mom would always get up and puke in the morning and feel better.
I'm sorry you're sick, but like you said, at least you know you're really pregnant! Hopefully it passes soon.
Oh, we're trying to be in Arizona for Christmas, and if we are, I'll for sure let you know when!

Congrats!!! Such exciting news. My mom (also a nurse) heard of a concoction from one of her patients. It sounds wierd and even though I stuck my nose up at it, it worked several times for me. Sprite and milk. Yep, Sprite and milk. When you pour them together it foams and makes kind of sweet creamy mess. I think you only drink the foam though (it wouldn't hurt you to drink the rest. I did a few times) but it really helped settle my stomach! I know it sounds wierd but give it a try sometime. Good luck!

Yikes! I've heard that lemon water helps with nausea...maybe thats what they were thinking? Although just reading "potato chips and lemonade" makes my stomach go into mass production of stomach acid, so I can't imagine how horrible & gross that made you feel! Glad you got some zofran!

I was told that wearing seabands that are used for sea sickness really work. I haven't tired it, but some people swear by them. You can get them at any drugstore. You just wear them on your wrists. Try it out and let me know if it helps.

It's belated I know but I just read your blog and your preggers!!! Congrats! And you thought it couldn't happen. Babies have a way of sneaking into our lives when everyone tells you you can't ;)

I craved McDonalds sausage biscuits and throughout my first pregnancy and hamburgers of all kinds during my 2nd ... neither helped much with the nausea. I actually vomitted in the garbage can next to the copy machine at work ... sigh. But it was worth it in the end! Hang in there!
